APACHE Portal is an integrated volumetric measurement and static weighing of large objects such as pallets, machinery or containers. The APACHE portal systems as a freight checkpoint including volume measurement, scales and photography.

  • Speed of movement: The measuring axis moves at a constant speed of 20 m/min
  • Method of measurement: Two infrared scanners (fan scanners) are driven on two linear guides over the freight and load carrier to be measured. Movement is tracked with an incremental encoder. Over the run, the heads perform gapless scanning.

The APACHE Portal made by AKL-tec have been in use for seamless freight scanning & accurate documentation from as early as 1996. The APACHE portal system as a freight checkpoint including volume measurement, scales and photography, is the most successful member of the family.

MEASURING PRINCIPLE:

The freight is carried to the checkpoint by a forklift, a hand-operated lifting car or an electric lifting car. There it is placed on a platform scales and APACHE portal’s sharp eyes are already putting the object accurately under the magnifying glass. The length, breadth, height, loading aid, volume, weight and photograph are displayed, stored and documented.

When parcels have to be handled quickly, what is required is an optimized process. Whilst one item is being measured, you can already be fetching the next one. But the use of two or more vehicles for loading and unloading the measurement point often leads to waiting time. The multi-zone concept of the new APACHE portal introduces a clever solution, which is to date solely available in APACHE big bear: measurement points may be freely defined and measured separately from each other- practically two devices in one.
